New Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has announced his intention to resolve the border dispute with Cambodia in a peaceful way.

“This government will take peaceful measures to resolve the ongoing Thai-Cambodian dispute with a firm commitment to mitigating any further Thai casualties. We believe in the Thai sovereignty and will never lose territory or our pride,” he said, in a statement issued shortly after being accredited by King Maha Vajiralongkorn.

Cambodia appeals to UN over Thailand’s continued detention of soldiers

Cambodian Human Rights Committee (CHRC) president Keo Remy has issued an urgent appeal to Ganna Yudkivska, chair-rapporteur of the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, concerning the detention of 18 Cambodian soldiers by Thai Armed Forces. The soldiers have been held since July 29, despite a ceasefire agreement between Cambodia and Thailand.
