can you spot where I opened a couple windows? once you have the equipment to measure it, you can never unlearn how stale the air in your living space gets

What I love so much about monitoring CO2 is that it’s such a good proxy measurement for ventilation. We know that the atmospheric CO2 level is about 425ppm; so the higher your indoor CO2 is, the more you know your “indoor” air is different from “fresh” air.

In other words, as long as you know how “stale” your indoor air is, you know when you need to flush it out and replace it with fresh air from outdoors. And when you flush out that stale air, you’re also flushing out any other pollutants and hazards that air was carrying, perhaps including VOCs, mold spores, etc

The bottom line is that you don’t need a CO2 meter at all if you just remember to open up some windows now and again to ventilate your living space, but having a meter is a fascinating way to quantify how stale your air gets

This trepidation is the source of so much anxiety. Shoddily buried under the surface. Subtly elevating our stress hormones and leaking our energy.
